ASSID: “THE MESSAGE OF THE PROPHET MOMATH IS A TERRORIST CONSEQUENTIAL MESSAGE”

Secular activist Ahmed ASSID, reported at a Human Rights Convention held in Morocco on Friday 19 April, his views on Islam and human rights. “They should not teach secondary school students the Prophet Muhammad’s message that he had sent to the kings and rulers of his time, calling them to join Islam in order to secure Peace. This message is clearly a terrorist threat. The message that is taught in schools and addressed to our 16-year-old students is in fact a terrorist threat because it is linked to the context of Islam that spread with sword and violence. Today, however, the choice of religion is a personal choice for the free people. That is why students cannot be taught a message that says they are either bounded to Islam or will die and be taught as one of the Highest values of Islam”.
In the framework of the Conference during the opening session of the 10th Moroccan Conference on Human Rights held in the Mehdi Benbarka Hall in Rabat, ASSID, in his speech entitled “The Rights of Islam and Universal Values” argued that “Islam represents globalization”. Justifying this position, ASSID recalled that “Islam was a crown of the nations and cultures that preceded them, and that is what makes Europeans want to translate intellectuals texts like Ibn Sina and Averroe to take advantage of and especially from their investigations”.
However, as ASSID argues, “Today Islam is something outdated because universal values are the highest idea that mankind has conquered. Islam, on the contrary, when it came, it did not prohibit the trafficking of human beings and slaves, it simply ordered to become a little more humane to deal with them, at best, to be liberated or … “. His speech later stated that, based on the viewpoint of Islamic scholars, “religion is the purpose and man is the medium”.  However, this is contrary to the Declaration of Human Rights. “A new generation of scientists should be emerging, trying to combine the universal values of human rights with religious texts in order to avoid being marginalized and incorporated into the new reality”.
